Young Leaders Academy
Training Beyond the Arts
As participants in Lucy's Outdoor Dance Camp go through their sessions and years at camp, they are being trained on multiple levels: in the arts (dance, theater, visual, etc), in respecting the natural world around them, and in respecting one another as well as the counselors. Leadership qualities express themselves very naturally in young children, and building on those qualities may or may not happen in general school settings and activity settings. This is why I am introducing "Young Leaders Academy", a branch of my camp designed for the camper ages 9-12.
The ongoing workshops, virtual classes and camp camaraderie centered on leadership principals of the camp will allow older campers to train to be be Junior Leaders at the Dance Camp as well as be leaders in their daily lives. The training will be camper-driven-- with their ideas for how to best be leaders instructing us. Who better to train to be leaders than those who have been young campers, themselves?

Lucy will be hosting Virtual Classes once per month leading up to summer. We will have reading exercises, hear from past counselors and campers (now in HS, College or Grad school), have group discussions/activities -- all related to leadership and how it applies to life as well as dance camp. This is ideal for kids ages 8-12, and parents can participate/oversee, as well. All material will be age-appropriate and sent to parents before actual classes begin. To sign up and get an info packet and the schedule for Jan-May, please enter your info below. First Virtual Class will take place on Wed. January 14th, at 7:15pm and will last 30 minutes. If a different day/time is preferred, please let me know your best times. Suggested contribution for five sessions training - $50.
